There have been some great results in the lead up to Christmas in the Auckland bowls championships. Congratulations to Laura Bailey for coming third equal in the Auckland Singles. Laura continued with this form in the Auckland Triples which was completed today.
The winning team was Babara Lyon, Margaret Rovers and Laura Bailey (Skip).

Local knowledge was not enough for Glennis Davey and her Howick team as Laura Bailey, Margaret Rovers and Barbara Lyon defended their title to the end in the Heartland Auckland Women`s Triples..
Davey lead for a lot of the game and it was really only on the final end that Bailey, who went into the end two shots down on the board managed to pick up a three to snitch the title from under the Howick teams nose.
Congratulations to the New Lynn girls who will now represent Auckland at the Regional Finals in March.

The second semi-final between Adam Wishnoski and Scott Cottrell also saw Wishnoski having to play catch up but they got within two points of Cottrell half way through the game.
Wishnoski, playing with New Lynn`s Warick Frederikson, Paul Stier and Dennis Double then had a small lapse which Cottrell`s team took good advantage of to increase their score to 16-8.
A four on the twelfth end and then a couple of single scores on the next two ends saw some promise return to the game but Cotreel settled and took the last end to claim the finals berth 17-14.
